| Rehabilitation Receptionist Few area
residents are aware of how much the rehabilitation services at St.
Joseph's reach out into the local community.
Three physical therapist, an occupational therapist, a speech
therapist, a cardiac rehab nurse, a physical therapy aide and a
therapeutic recreation staff not only serve clients in the hospital and
nursing home, but also provide services to the school, to home health,
to Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Elroy and to Better Days Walk Back
Center in Hillsboro.
With a schedule like that, someone has to keep everyone organized and
that person in Cathy Miller. She has been employed for 13 years at St.
Joseph's, the first six months as an aide and the balance as the
receptionist in the therapy department.
Cathy describes the department as "very busy." Her job includes
scheduling patients, billing, statistical work-ups, transcription,
reception duties, follow-up on patients and occasionally she still does
aide duties.
Cathy also handles insurance authorizations for therapies. She works
three days a week, while another receptionist covers the rest of the
week. She says this amount of time suits her, allowing her to spend time
with her family and fulfill her duties as the wife of a minister. Her
husband, Roger Miller, has been pastor of the Hillsboro Wesleyan Church
since 1989.
They have two sons, Kevin and Jeff. Kevin is married and resides in
Oklahoma.
